ABOUT FOOLISH OWL

Foolish Owl Bakery is a home based bakery located in Greektown, Baltimore, MD. My name is Brooke Bomberger, and I am a proud resident of Greektown and of Baltimore City. During the work week I am the Associate Director of Jobs for the Choice Program at UMBC and sit on the Greektown Neighborhood Association board. The rest of the time I am baking up a storm for neighbors in the city and across Central MD!

Foolish Owl specializes in cakes, cupcakes, pies and more! I have even had the pleasure of recreating cultural baked good from customers' childhoods. Have a craving? Send a message and I'll see what I can do!​
 

Why Foolish Owl?​

Growing up, I was obsessed with the Wizard of Oz, and not just the movie, the whole book series by L. Frank Baum. The Foolish Owl is a character that appears in the Patchwork Girl of Oz. She and her partner, the Wise Donkey, live in the Munchkin Country and serve as public advisers. The Foolish Owl speaks in nonsense poetry, which the Wise Donkey explains is good advice for the foolish. Baum loved reversing stereotypes (the Cowardly Lion being the most famous example), and I always loved this silly pair. I also love owls in general, so it was the perfect fit!
